Dear Dad:
It's been almost 2 years since you left us and, sadly, the deterioration of our country continues. You must see it from your heavenly vantage point and shake your head in disbelief.
I recall as your health declined, you felt fearful and unwell, but you continued to embrace life with family and friends just like Grandpa, Uncle Eddy, and so many generations before you.
Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD aka Euthanasia) has a hypnotic hold on Canada now. Basically, the pro-death regime came up with a new slick trick: label Euthanasia as 'compassion & caring'; then, if someone speaks out about its vague legal verbiage and huge loopholes, accuse them of being 'cruel' for letting people suffer in agony. What is truly frightening, Dad, is how its unchecked progression has ensnared so many people and how our country is being corroded by lack of respect for human life.
I sometimes wonder if you would have chosen to use MAiD and am thankful that you were not provided the option as far as I'm aware. I'm glad we had as much time together as naturally possible.
I love you and think of you often.
Lee-Ann"
MAiD, described as 'liberating and euphoric' by those who provide this 'service', is nothing more than Eugenics disguised as benevolence.
It promises so much and delivers nothing that can be substantially proven. After all, no one survives the procedure so whether it's as wonderful and painless as it's been made out to be remains unknown. The only true winners in this shady sales pitch are the providers that offer the service for a price, and of course the government that keeps all those unspent health care dollars.
Make no mistake, what started as a claim of 'compassion' and 'mercy' for those in physical agony, with a foreseeable death, only 9 years ago, is now targeting anyone with an 'irremediable and grievous" medical condition such as: arthritis, heart failure, diabetes, blindness, deafness, asthma, and the list goes on. Basically, if your condition is chronic, won't improve and/or can't be fixed, and you're uncomfortable because of that, the government will let someone kill you.
Starting in March 2027, people living with mental illness can choose to be euthanized and the argument for infanticide (euthanizing children under the age of one) grows stronger by the day.
God save us all as the scope of what is 'fair game' in Canada's Euthanasia hunt has broadened at a terrifying pace. And as the scope broadens further, the likelihood of it touching you or someone you know increases; yes, it can happen to you.
To withstand this attack, Canadians must be united in our core belief of essential human rights; that every life has value. Whether we're protesting the massacre of pre-born children in the womb or exposing the annihilation of those of us who are less than perfect. Yes, I said "us" because humans are imperfect by nature which means we are all on the proverbial chopping block.
When some segments of our population are deemed worthy of saving and others are deemed expendable, moral outrage at such injustice must be voiced. This is what makes Euthanasia a human rights issue. If need be, we'll yell it from the rooftops!
The mission of On Guard for Thee is to raise awareness, to keep the conversation going, to keep Euthanasia from lurking in the shadows like a stalker preying on the vulnerable.
With God's grace and the determination of Canadians, we can and will turn the tide. We can talk to our families, our friends, our fellow worshippers, our priests, rabbis, and ministers. We can keep Euthanasia in the glaring light so it can't retreat to the dark where it will only grow stronger.
We ask you to stand with us by sending your prayers, lending your voice, educating those around you, and protecting Canada by living up to our national anthem to 'stand on guard for thee'.
